The IRCOM After School Program offers a host of educational and recreation programs, free of charge, for newcomer children and youth living at IRCOM and in the wider West Alexander/Central Park neighborhood. Program activities include games, arts & crafts, reading and homework club, films, outreach activities, sports, youth leadership and other exciting activities specially designed for newcomer children and youth. The children and youth programs take place Monday through Friday, each week.
- Children’s programs: 4pm to 6pm.
- Youth programs: 7pm to 9pm.

- Art City, Art Night at Knox Centre
- Manitoba Justice, Newcomer Youth In Trades Program
- Sherbrook Pool, Swimming Lessons
Goal:
To assist newcomer children and youth to integrate positively into their new environment in Canada.
Objectives of the IRCOM After-School Programs:
- EDUCATION: To create educational activities (ie: literacy, homework clubs) in order to assist newcomer children and youth in cultural adaptation and language
- RECREATION: To provide stimulating and active recreational activities for children and youth which will promote the values of cooperation, non-violence and cross-cultural communication
- EMPOWERMENT: To create a ‘space’ where self-esteem, recognition and appreciation for self, other and the environment can be learned and practiced
- OUTREACH: To expose young newcomers to the different service providers, opportunities, cross-cultural scenarios and types of activities that exist in their neighbourhood through outreach and collaboration with other agencies
- PREVENTION: To keep youth away from high risk activities such as gangs, violence and substance abuse by providing positive mentorship, engaging, youth-friendly activities
