Volunteer Program

IRCOM provides many essential community services to its tenants and the surrounding neighbourhood through the help of our committed volunteers. The wide range of services provided at IRCOM helps to meet the needs of the newcomer population in Winnipeg in order for them to make a successful transition into their new home.  Our volunteers contribute to the success of IRCOM and extend our reach into the larger Winnipeg and Manitoba community.

Our volunteers come from many walks of life, offering a myriad of skills, knowledge and gifts to the newcomer community. Some of our volunteers live on-site at IRCOM or in the local neighbourhood, offering cross-cultural and linguistic expertise; while others are students, retired people or other active citizens from across the city, wanting to contribute.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We accept volunteers from ages 15 and older, and currently have a range of volunteers from high school all the way up to senior citizens.  Any volunteers under the age of 18 need to provide a signed note from a parent or guardian stating that they are able to volunteer with IRCOM.  All volunteers need to undergo a Criminal Record Check along with a Child Abuse Registry Check.  We require at least a six month commitment from our volunteers.

If you are interested in volunteering at IRCOM or require more information, please contact Erin Anderson, the Volunteer Coorindator, by phone at 943-8765 Ext. 23 or by e-mail at erina@ircom.ca. Thank you for your interest.

Thank you to Manitoba Labour & Immigration for supporting IRCOM’s volunteer program this year.
