Jim Beckta is an old hippie who found his niche doing something called Appropriate Technology in developing countries (Bolivia ’76-’78 and Tanzania ’82-’89). While living in Tanzania Jim met Annalea who came from Charleswood. Jim himself was born in Headingly.
In the early 90’s, Jim organized Earthshare, a Community Supported Agriculture program staffed by newcomers (weekly fresh vegetable delivery service). He left it in 1996 and over time developed container gardening in his Charleswood space.
Since 2007, he has been involved with IRCOM as the Greening Coordinator.
